Open the Control Panel folder and open the icon titled PC Card (PCMCIA) and click on the tab "Global Settings" and remove the check next to the first line which reads "Automatic Selection" under the box titled "Card Services Shared Memory". This will activate the boxes labled START, END, and LENGTH. For the START, put in the first address that both exclusions (in Config.sys and System.ini) were set to such as C800 or D000. For the END, again put the ending address of the exclusion such as CFFF, or DFFF. For LENGTH, put in the size of the exclusion. The exclusion of C800-CFFF is 32kb or 3200, and the exclusion of D000-DFFF is 64kb (or 6400). After making these changes, click on the apply button at the bottom and ...... 6. RESTART 7. Make sure the card is in the slot during restart and you should have no problem getting back into Windows95. If you do have any error messages booting up asking "Is the card inserted?" just click OK and let it go into Windows. Once your all loaded, go into Control Panel, open Multimedia, go to the Advanged tab, go to Audio Devices, and double click on "Audio for AudioAdv.drv." click on Settings, and see if "Current Interrupt='s something other than 0 (zero). If it's 0, try one of the IRQs listed besides auto, and then click the "Apply" button. You may have to try a few, but the important thing is that we at some point see a setting under "Current Interrupt" . If you've gone through all the choices but have yet to get a positive response, make sure you have the most recent driver. This can be obtained by contacting the BeachComber BBS or visiting our forum on Compuserve (GO Turtle Beach) and downloading the file "AUDIOADV.DRV" and copying that file to the Windows95\System directory and replacing the current driver. This updated driver is optimized for systems with more than 1 card slot. Troubleshooting Information Through testing here at Turtle Beach, we have run across a couple of driver related bugs using the standard Windows drivers under Windows95. Listed below are the problem and the steps around them. 1. With the V-Synth (software synthesizer) loaded, the Audio Advantage will not play Wave audio such as the Windows95 startup sound etc. Having V-Synth active will allow you to use it as a MIDI device and you will be able to play MIDI files and use the Sequencer, Manuscript, and Tapedeck programs as well as MousePlayer. To deactivate the V-Synth driver, go into the AudioAdvantage folder and run "Disable.exe". Make sure that "Disable V-synth" is selected and click OK, and let the machine restart. You will then get a message stating that the "V-Synth.386 is not present". Just OK these messages and once your back in Windows (95), edit the System.ini file and look for a line in the [Drivers] section which is loading the "V-synth.drv" and remove that entire line and after your saved and out of that file, give another restart and you should be fine. 2. If you want to use the V-synth synthesizer and are willing to sacrifice your system sounds, disable system sounds from the sound icon in Control Panel, and then edit the System.ini file and add this line to the [386Enh] section: device=vsftnotd.386. Then exit and save and go to the "DISABLE.exe" and enable V-Synth. Ok that box and let Windows95 restart and you should be set. 3. Switching between V-Synth and nonV-synth modes fails to add/remove certain lines in the system.ini file, thus creating error messages or even lockups. These 2 lines are needed for V-synth: [386Enh] device=vsftnotd.386 [Drivers] MIDI1=V-Synth.drv Without these 2 statements, the card is operating the same as if "Disable V-Synth" was selected. мЅe#Р №Љ 3Й,2l,2l22 2 ЊF(2ь2˜2Tю2FMS Sans Serif Symbol SystemTimes New RomanRunning Audio Advantage under Windows 95 (Note: This information has been designed as a guide to help you operate the Audio Advantage under Windows 95, and is by no means an acknowledgement of compatability with the Windows 95 operating system.) The Turtle Beach System Audio Advantage PCMCIA audio card has been tested under Windows 95 and for the most part is working but for a few execptions which will be discussed later. So far this has been tested using Win95 build 950 (Gold Disk), SystemSoft 3.1 (ver 2.14) , Audio Advantage rev 1.0 driver version 1.1, a generic 486 DX2- 66 , 16 meg ram. and too many other cards installed to mention. PC card support (PCMCIA) was handled by the SystemSoft drivers and NOT by the drivers/support provided with this version of Windows95. If you don't currently have a compatible version (2.1 compliant) of Card&Socket service software (not necessarily SystemSoft) then either get it, or forget it. Testing is currently being done using Phoenix PCMPlus3 Card and Socket services, and this file will be updated when testing is complete. 1. The best way to start the installation is to do a deactivation of all current drivers re: Audio Advantage . This should be done by putting remark statements next to all drivers loading which have anything to do with the Audio Advantage (if currently installed). There are only 1 file of consequence which is loading any drivers relating to the operation of the Audio Advantage. This is the System.ini in the Windows95 root directory. The first line we want to look for is in the [386Enh] section. It reads "device=vcscbd.386" and should be disabled by inserting a semicolon (;) at the very beginning of the entire line. The next line we want to trash is "device=vsftnotd.386" . Semicolon this one as well. Next we will head down to the section titled [drivers]. Here we want to semicolon any line making any mention of the Audio Advantage card or it's components. There should be at least 3 lines of mention such as WAVE=AudioAdv.drv, MIXER=AudioAdv.drv, and MIDI=AudioAdv.drv. Again, insert a semicolon at the beginning of each. There may also be a line which states "MIDI1=V-Synth.drv. If it is there, mark it with a semicolon. If not , don't worry about it.. 2. Now it's time to install all of our Audio Advantage software and drivers (again......). Start the install as normal by running the "Setup" file from disk #1, and let everything go through as usual, selecting either a Custom or Express installation along with all the additional programs. Towards the end of the setup procedure, it may pop up a Warning dialog box stating that" A newer version of msmixmgr.dll was replaced, and that Windows95 will repair that by replacing it with a newer version upon restart" . If this comes up, just click OK and continue. At the end of the setup, it will prompt you to restart Windows, and ask if you want to do this now. Click NO, because there are some other changes we would like to make. 3. Go into the Config.sys file and locate a line such as "DEVICE=C:\windows95\emm386.exe... etc. " and add a memory exclusion to this line for at least 32kb such as C800-CFFF along with a NOEMS statement. For example: Device=c:\windows95\emm386.exe NOEMS X=C800-CFFF or for a 64kb block: Device=C:\windows95\emm386.exe noems x=D000-Dfff (these lines are NOT case sensitive, CAPS do not matter) 4. Next stop is the System.ini file where we want to add a memory exclusion as well. This will be for the same size and address as the one in Config.sys, and will be added to the [386Enh] section as the first line in that section. It will begin with the statement "Emmexclude=" and will contain the memory address. For example: Emmexclude=C800-CFFF (again, this line is not case sensitive) When this chang№чшщъЁЂЃЄ€‚ƒЊЋЌ567EFG з и й НОПЈњѕёьчуплзгЯЫЧУОЙДАЌЈЄ œ˜”Œˆ„€|xtplhd]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]cU]cU]cU]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c U]cU]c]c ]^c$]^c$%ЈЉЊЋлмнёђѓє$%&^_`-8ЁЂЃЏАБВЦЧШ№ё+,-ћїѓяычуплзгЯЪХРЛЗВЎЊІЂžš–’ŽŠ†‚~zvrnjfb]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]cU]c]cU]cU]cU]cU]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c&yz{–—˜]^_џОПРCDEпр % & ' ( 1 2 3 D E F G ћїѓяычуплзгЯЫЧУПЛЗГЏЊІЂžš–’ŽŠ†‚~zvrnjf]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]cU]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c]c&G Ј Љ ћљ]]c№шщЂЃ‚ЋЌ67F и й єщпеЫСЗЃ™…{qg] "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№й ОПЉмђ%_`ЂАЧё,-ѕысзЭУЙЏЅ›‘‡}si_ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№z{—˜^_ПРDEр ѕысзЭУЙЏЅ›‘‡}si_ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ & ' 2 E G Љ ѕысзЭУЙЏ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№ "Іџ№№Љ №Љ Йџџџџџџџџ8/K@ёџNormala "A@ђџЁ"Default Paragraph Fontаџ@џџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџўџ џџџџ РFMicrosoft Word 6.0 Document MSWordDocє9ВqаЯрЁБс>ўџ аЯрЁБс>ўџ ўџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџџ
